Who’s afraid of Country?

How can non-Indigenous writers articulate their relationships with place in respectful, authentic and informed ways?

This is an online workshop for non-Indigenous writers at any level of experience and is also welcomes those without a regular writing practice who are comfortable with written expression. Its purpose is to guide, generate and share responses to the sovereign land where we live, have grown up, made families or arrived.

Through a series of prompts, reflection and discussion we will use writing as our primary tool of learning; considering how image, metaphor, story and vocabulary are important elements in how we think about our own life narratives and cultural identities as a starting point for writing with place. It will offer resources for personal research and respectful information-seeking about the histories of the places we know.
