Writing women’s stories

How do women’s lived experiences move from ways of knowing and being, to the written word and story? How do women’s stories continue to go unwritten within patriarchal culture, and which stories are not written or read because of ethnicity, sexuality, ability or class? How does writing continue to expand the record of women’s lives to include trans and non-binary perspectives and belonging?

This is an online practical workshop focused on advancing your own current project or process of writing women’s lives. It will centre on a supportive critical group discussion of your work in progress from a craft perspective. Limited to 6 participants, you will receive individual written feedback from Bonny in addition to the discussion. We will discuss generative prompts on form and voice to offer new stylistic and narrative angles on your work.

It is suited to writers at any level of experience, who are beginning or sustaining a project of any scale or genre which engages with research, representation and crafting of women’s stories as they define it. This may include life writing projects such as memoir or biography; nonfiction or documentary poetry; historical fiction; essay; and more.

This workshop is LGBTQIA+ friendly, and aims to be as accessible as possible – get in touch if you have specific access needs.
