Teaching

In early 2025 I will be offering small writing workshops on beautiful Dja Dja Wurrung Country. The design of these will be shaped by the interests of individuals, collaborators, as well as led by some of my passions – writing as a guest on Country, writing with other art forms, and writing the self through memoir and history. If you are interested, I’d love to hear from you via the Contact button above.

I have taught various forms of creative writing for about fifteen years. I helped to found Red Room Poetry’s schools education program, and have collaborated with the NGV and Dax Centre to deliver ekphrasis workshops to secondary school students. From time to time I have given public workshops for adults in regional areas including Geelong and Shepparton, and also during residencies overseas in Canada and Ireland. I’ve lectured, tutored and supervised poetry, nonfiction, creative research and practice methods in numerous Australian universities, the highlight being an awarded teacher for the past decade at RMIT Melbourne – one of Australia’s foremost creative writing and publishing programs. From this experience I’ve undertaken peer-reviewed research and published scholarly articles on creative writing pedagogy; the theory and practice of teaching writing in Australia.

I hold a BA - Creative Writing (UoW), a Phd in Arts - English (USyd) and am currently studying towards a Grad. Cert. Psychology (JCU).
